Slatted floor scraper

Does your livestock barn have a slatted floor? That simplifies the decision, as you need a JOZ slatted floor scraper. If you’d rather avoid a fixed scraper installation, have a look at the JOZ-Tech manure robot.

The slatted floor scraper is mainly used on slatted floors and some low-emission floors. There are two types of slatted floor scrapers:

  • Rubberised slatted floor scraper
  • Galvanised slatted floor scraper

JOZ scrapers are weighted as standard, and always supplied with a rotor. The special rotors on the sides of the scraper allows the system to bypass objects such as standpipes next to the feed fence, water pipes, and animals’ tails without any problems. Even if manure alleys are not all the same length, a JOZ slatted floor scraper with chain, cable or rope works perfectly.

Rubberised slatted floor scraper

This JOZ rubberised slatted floor scraper is notable for its animal-friendly design and resilience. The manure scraper is weighted as standard, so it has no problem dealing with wide alleys and large amounts of stall bedding. The rubber strips under the scraper keep the floor extremely clean. The rubberised slatted floor scraper is suitable for alleys of up to 320 cm in width.

The scraper is pulled over the floor by chain, cable or rope, which are driven by an electric motor. It moves at a speed of 4 metres per minute. In the ‘Technology’ tab, we look in more detail at the different types of drive stations that can be used with a JOZ slatted floor scraper.

A JOZ manure scraper with a JOZ drive station and associated control technology is the best solution for precision work. All the sensors communicate with each other, which keeps the system running smoothly and ensures excellent scraping results. More on the control technology behind JOZ manure scrapers can be found in the ‘Operation’ tab on this page. Find out more about this unique scraper technology.

Galvanised slatted floor scraper

As an alternative to the rubberised version of the JOZ slatted floor scraper, you can choose the galvanised version. This slatted floor scraper is also weighted and supplied with a rotor as standard. The type of slatted floor scraper depends on the situation in the barn for which they are made, and of course your preference as a farmer.

The height of the sliding rubber on the galvanised slatted floor scraper can be adjusted on both sides. All parts of the slatted floor scraper are designed to protect cows. The scraper is pulled over the floor by chain, cable or rope, which are driven by an electric motor. It moves at a speed of 4 metres per minute. In the ‘Technology’ tab, we look in more detail at the different types of drive stations that can be used with a JOZ slatted floor scraper.

The galvanised JOZ slatted floor scraper is operated in the same way as the rubberised version. More on this can be found in the ‘Operation’ and ‘Technology’ tabs on this page. The galvanised slatted floor scraper is suitable for alleys of up to 460 cm in width.

Other manure scrapers

Is the slatted floor scraper not suitable for you after all?  Then take a look at the Combi Scraper, Multi-Scraper, Flex Scraper or Delta Scraper. Learn more about the differences in our blog ‘How do manure discharge systems work?‘.

Characteristics of the slatted floor scraper

  • Animal-friendly finish
  • Weighted as standard
  • Suitable for wide alleys and large quantities of stall bedding
  • Rotors guarantee clean stall walls, and make guidance unnecessary in crossing passages.
  • Optional: adjustable pulling bar
  • Standard 220 cm pulling bar for additional stability
  • Rubber guide eye for rope/cable/chain
  • Suitable for flat floors and UNP guides
  • Suitable for chain, cable or rope drives
  • Uneven alley for chain, otherwise 2 scrapers per (longest) alley

Suitable for various types of floors

The rubberised version of the slatted floor scraper is suitable for alleys of up to 320 cm in width, while the galvanised slatted floor scraper can handle alleys of up to 460 cm in width. Both are ideal for barns with the following floors:

  • Slatted floors
  • Low-emission floors

The type of floor affects how easily animals can walk, in other words, the level of animal comfort and stress in the barn. Environmental requirements and legislation limit a farmer’s freedom in choosing the type of floor. Fortunately, JOZ has a suitable and proven manure scraper system for every combination of floor type, stall bedding and animal.

Manure scraper drive

JOZ manure scrapers are propelled by rope, galvanised steel cables, a stainless steel cable, or a steel chain. JOZ uses 3 different types of drive stations:

  • Drum drive (rope & cable)
  • Chain drive (chain)
  • Cable drive (cable)

The type of drive station depends on the type of floor and the length of the manure alley.

Drum drive

The JOZ drum drive can be used on slatted floors, solid concrete floors, rubber floors and low-emission floors. The drum drive consists of a narrow, large-diameter drum that can be used in combination with rope, a plasticised cable or a stainless steel cable. A scraper system always requires two drive stations. One station winds the rope, while the other station unwinds it at the same time, so the system does not have to be under tension.

The drum drive is available in a floor-mounted version (beyond the reach of the cows) or on a console which is installed inside or outside the barn. The drive is ideal for barns with long alleys and very intensive use.

Chain drive

JOZ chain installations are equipped with one drive station per system. One chain installation is suitable for one or two manure alleys, and depending on the situation, one or more scrapers can be used per alley. The chain drive can be used on a solid floor, slatted floor, rubber floor, or low-emission floor.

The motor gear units are directly driven, without belts. The drive is placed on a vertical console with protective caps. We recommend using a fully automatic hydraulic tensioner for the best scraping results. This keeps the system correctly tensioned at all times, which means less wear and tear. Moreover, you will never be too late with tensioning.

Cable drive mechanism

In addition to the drum drive mechanism (rope/cable) and the chain drive mechanism, JOZ also supplies a cable scraping system which is propelled by a galvanised steel cable. The cable installation is equipped with one drive station per system, which pulls the cable back and forth. The system is driven by a drive roller.

This drive can only be used with a slatted floor.

Correct tensioning

We recommend using a fully automatic hydraulic tensioner. This keeps the system correctly tensioned at all times, which in turn means less wear and tear. Moreover, you will never be too late with tensioning.

Easy to use

The drives are easily controlled with JOZ’s MSC control box. What makes this control box so special is that it communicates with a precision sensor on the drive motor. As a result, the control cabinet always knows the position of the manure scraper in the alley.

Various settings are possible. We can set up manure scrapers exactly according to your preferences. The system can even be fitted with frost protection and remote control.
