Description

Combi scraper

The JOZ combi scraper was developed especially for barns with solid or semi-solid floors. The combi scraper operates on the principle of main wings on each side of the central pulling bar, which are in the vertical position during scraping and raised when the scraper returns. This allows the combi scraper to return along the manure alley while taking virtually no manure back with it.

The two wings scrape the side walls perfectly clean along the entire width, even if the walls are not perfectly straight. JOZ has a total of 5 different combi scrapers in its range. What type of combi scraper is best for your barn? That depends on the type of floor and the specific situation. The different types of scrapers:

  • Single-acting combi scraper
    1. standard
    2. overdriveable
    3. retractable pulling bar
    4. Comb scraper
  • Dual-acting combi scraper with end discharge
  • Combi scraper HCI W5 floor
  • Chicken manure scraper

Single-acting combi scraper

The single-acting combi scraper requires little space to park, and opens quickly at the beginning of the manure alley. This model can be used on solid concrete floors, slatted floors, rubber floors, and low-emission floors.

The single-acting combi scraper is available in 4 versions. version 1 is the standard version, while version 2 is useful in that it can be driven over.

If you haven’t got much space in the barn for manure disposal, you can opt for version 3, a single-acting combi scraper with retractable pulling bar. The long pulling bar retracts when approaching the discharge area, so there is no empty space in the barn. Version 4 is the comb scraper. This is used for slatted floors made of concrete or rubber.

Alley widths per version:
Version 1: 135 cm to 600 cm
Version 2: 135 cm to 420 cm
Version 3: 135 cm to 460 cm
Version 4: 135 cm to 400 cm

Dual-acting combi scraper with end discharge

If your barn has a discharge point at both ends of the manure alley, then the dual-acting combi scraper with end discharge is the best choice. This scraper cleans the alley on both the outward and the return pass. It is supplied with a side wing limiter as standard and can be used in alleys of 135 to 460 cm in width.

Combi scraper HCI W5 floor

The HCI W5 floor is a solid, sloping floor with smooth, sloping urine channels. JOZ developed a special combi scraper for this floor. The scraper can be used with either cable or rope drives. It can handle a normal amount of stall bedding, and little to no straw. The HCI W5 combi scraper is suitable for alleys in the following widths: 250, 300, 350 and 400 cm.

Chicken manure scraper

The JOZ chicken manure scraper is a type of combi scraper with extra heavy main wings that uses guide rollers next to the main frame. This scraper is fitted with a spoiler that scrapes the floor aggressively. These scrapers are made from manganese steel, to minimise wear and tear. The JOZ chicken manure scraper is suitable for alleys of 135 to 340 cm in width.

Other manure scrapers

Is the combination scraper not suitable for you after all? Then take a look at the multi-scraper, slatted floor scraper, flex scraper or delta scraper. Learn more about the differences in our blog ‘How does a manure disposal system work?’.

Suitable for various types of floors

The combi scraper is suitable for alleys of 135 to 600 cm in width, depending on the type of scraper. Combi scrapers are used on:

  • Solid concrete floors
  • Slatted floors
  • Rubber floors
  • Low-emission floors
  • Slotted floors
  • HCI W5 floors

The type of floor affects how easily animals can walk, in other words, the level of animal comfort and stress in the barn. Environmental requirements and legislation limit a farmer’s freedom in choosing the type of floor. Fortunately, JOZ has a suitable and proven manure scraper system for every combination of floor type, stall bedding and animal.

Drive unit

JOZ manure scrapers are propelled by rope, galvanised steel cables, a stainless steel cable, or a steel chain. JOZ uses 3 different types of drive stations:

  • Drum drive (rope & cable)
  • Chain drive (chain)
  • Cable drive (cable)

The type of drive station depends on the type of floor and the length of the manure alley.

Drum drive

The JOZ drum drive can be used on slatted floors, solid concrete floors, rubber floors and low-emission floors. The drum drive consists of a narrow, large-diameter drum that can be used in combination with rope, a plasticised cable or a stainless steel cable. A scraper system always requires two drive stations. One station winds the rope, while the other station unwinds it at the same time, so the system does not have to be under tension.

The drum drive is available in a floor-mounted version (beyond the reach of the cows) or on a console which is installed inside or outside the barn. The drive is ideal for barns with long alleys and very intensive use.

Chain drive

JOZ chain installations are equipped with one drive station per system. One chain installation is suitable for one or two manure alleys, and depending on the situation, one or more scrapers can be used per alley. The chain drive can be used on a solid floor, slatted floor, rubber floor, or low-emission floor.

The motor gear units are directly driven, without belts. The drive is placed on a vertical console with protective caps. We recommend using a fully automatic hydraulic tensioner for the best scraping results. This keeps the system correctly tensioned at all times, which means less wear and tear. Moreover, you will never be too late with tensioning.

Cable drive mechanism

In addition to the drum drive mechanism (rope/cable) and the chain drive mechanism, JOZ also supplies a cable scraping system which is propelled by a galvanised steel cable. The cable installation is equipped with one drive station per system, which pulls the cable back and forth. The system is driven by a drive roller.

This drive can only be used with a slatted floor.

The drum drive (cable or rope) consists of a narrow, large-diameter drum that can be used with rope or plastic-coated steel cables.

A scraper always has 2 drives. While one drive rolls up the rope, the other drive unrolls it. The system therefore does not have to be tensioned. The narrow drum and guide ensure that the rope or cable is always perfectly rolled.

1 drive per system

JOZ chain scraper systems have 1 drive per system. A chain installation is suitable for 1 or 2 manure alleys. Depending on the situation, 1 or more manure scrapers can be installed per manure alley.

Correct tensioning

We recommend using a fully automatic hydraulic tensioner. This keeps the system correctly tensioned at all times, which in turn means less wear and tear. Moreover, you will never be too late with tensioning.

Easy to use

The drives are easily controlled with JOZ’s MSC control box. What makes this control box so special is that it communicates with a precision sensor on the drive motor. As a result, the control cabinet always knows the position of the manure scraper in the alley.

Various settings are possible. We can set up manure scrapers exactly according to your preferences. The system can even be fitted with frost protection and remote control.
