Description
Delta scrapers
The delta scraper is JOZ’s most robust scraper. The delta scraper is available in two versions; the standard delta scraper, or the HDX delta scraper, which was specially developed for stables with more demanding conditions.
Delta scraper (standard)
The delta scraper is fitted with a special spoiler for straw, which guides straw and manure to the centre of the scraper, so that the manure does not enter the area where animals lie and the scraper pulls evenly and lightly. This means cows don’t have to walk through manure when they step over the scraper.

When the delta scraper is on its return pass, the arms fold together so that a minimal amount of straw and manure is dragged back. When the scraper is in its folded position, it can be driven over, which is useful when a vehicle is used to spread straw in the stable. The cows are not hindered by the delta scraper, as it makes its return pass with its arms folded in. The guide profile in the centre of the floor keeps the scraper stable.
Depending on the roughness of the floor, the scraper needs about 1.5 times the width of the manure alley to fold out completely. JOZ offers standard delta scrapers with the option of a quick opener, which means that the delta scraper is opened mechanically and requires less space before opening enough to scrape the entire width of the manure alley. For more info, see the bottom of this page.
The delta scraper is also the perfect solution for barn alleys that vary in width. The scraper adapts effortlessly to the varying width of the manure alley, without leaving any manure behind.
HDX Delta Scraper
Manure scrapers wear faster in barns with sand bedding in the cubicle stables, so JOZ developed a new manure scraper especially for this situation: the HDX delta scraper. It’s the most wear-resistant delta scraper that we’ve ever sold.

The HDX delta scraper is supplied in twin-arm and single-arm versions, just like the standard delta scraper. The HDX delta scraper is part of the new Heavy Duty line from JOZ. It’s always sold in combination with the new, hardened corner roll+ that is fitted with reinforced components that improve operation of the chain scraper. Any maintenance required is easier than with other scrapers, as all wear parts are replaceable.
Quick opener for the delta scraper
A delta scraper needs about 1.5 times the alley width to fully open. That means that the first 6 metres in a 4 m wide alley are only partially scraped. The JOZ quick opener offers a solution here.

The quick opener is a steel wedge fitted with rubber that is mounted in front of the corner roll at the beginning of the manure alley. The delta scraper has rollers fitted on the inside of the arms, next to the hinge point. The wedge presses against the rollers, and forces the scraper to open.
The quick opener cannot be fitted to the HDX delta scraper!
Other manure scrapers
Is the delta scraper not suitable for you after all? Then take a look at the combi scraper, multi-scraper, slatted floor scraper or flex scraper. Learn more about the differences in our blog ‘How does a manure disposal system work?’.

- Quick opener optional
Characteristics of the HDX delta scraper
- Delta scraper reinforced with steel with a higher wear resistance
- Equal or unequal alley length with chain
- Only suitable for manure alleys with UNP guides
- Easy to maintain
- Overdriveable
- Can be used in sloping barns
- Frame equipped with spoiler to put extra pressure on the floor (cleaner floor)
- Needs 1.5 times the alley width to open

Characteristics of the quick opener
- When the delta scraper performs its return pass, the opener ensures that the delta scraper opens completely before the corner roll.
- Minimum space required in the manure alley before the delta scraper is fully opened
- The entire manure alley is scraped, no large parking position is required
- can only be used in an area that is inaccessible to humans and animals
- can only be used with a standard delta scraper
- can only be used with a JOZ MSC control panel
- cannot be used with systems that dispose on a flat manure plate
- cannot be used with unequal alley lengths
Floor type & size
Both versions of the delta scraper can only be used on solid concrete floors.
The standard delta scraper is suitable for alleys of 135 to 520 cm in width.
The HDX delta scraper is suitable for alleys of 259 to 427 cm in width.
The type of floor affects how easily animals can walk, in other words, the level of animal comfort and stress in the barn. Environmental requirements and legislation limit a farmer’s freedom in choosing the type of floor. Fortunately, JOZ has a suitable and proven manure scraper system for every combination of floor type, stall bedding and animal.

Manure scraper drive
JOZ manure scrapers are propelled by rope, galvanised steel cables, a stainless steel cable, or a steel chain. JOZ uses 3 different types of drive stations:
- Drum drive (rope & cable)
- Chain drive (chain)
- Cable drive (cable)
The type of drive station depends on the type of floor and the length of the manure alley.

Drum drive
The JOZ drum drive can be used on slatted floors, solid concrete floors, rubber floors and low-emission floors. The drum drive consists of a narrow, large-diameter drum that can be used in combination with rope, a plasticised cable or a stainless steel cable. A scraper system always requires two drive stations. One station winds the rope, while the other station unwinds it at the same time, so the system does not have to be under tension.
The drum drive is available in a floor-mounted version (beyond the reach of the cows) or on a console which is installed inside or outside the barn. The drive is ideal for barns with long alleys and very intensive use.
Chain drive
JOZ chain installations are equipped with one drive station per system. One chain installation is suitable for one or two manure alleys, and depending on the situation, one or more scrapers can be used per alley. The chain drive can be used on a solid floor, slatted floor, rubber floor, or low-emission floor.
The motor gear units are directly driven, without belts. The drive is placed on a vertical console with protective caps. We recommend using a fully automatic hydraulic tensioner for the best scraping results. This keeps the system correctly tensioned at all times, which means less wear and tear. Moreover, you will never be too late with tensioning.
Cable drive mechanism
In addition to the drum drive mechanism (rope/cable) and the chain drive mechanism, JOZ also supplies a cable scraping system which is propelled by a galvanised steel cable. The cable installation is equipped with one drive station per system, which pulls the cable back and forth. The system is driven by a drive roller.
This drive can only be used with a slatted floor.
Correct tensioning
We recommend using a fully automatic hydraulic tensioner. This keeps the system correctly tensioned at all times, which in turn means less wear and tear. Moreover, you will never be too late with tensioning.
Easy to use
The drives are easily controlled with JOZ’s MSC control box. What makes this control box so special is that it communicates with a precision sensor on the drive motor. As a result, the control cabinet always knows the position of the manure scraper in the alley.
Various settings are possible. We can set up manure scrapers exactly according to your preferences. The system can even be fitted with frost protection and remote control.

Characteristics of the MSC control box
- Easy operation
- Unique cow protection
- Can be used with all JOZ drive stations
