Multi-scraper

This JOZ manure scraper is the farmer’s favourite thanks to its modular design, versatility, wear-resistance, and animal-friendly rounded edges. The multi-scraper is built from various cast steel parts, which are more durable than parts made of structural steel. The modular design means all wear parts can be easily replaced, so these systems have an unlimited service life and minimal maintenance costs.

Also, all wear parts of the multi-scraper have visual wear indicators, so you can replace them in good time before the efficiency of the system deteriorates.

Design and operation

The combination of the manure scraper’s animal-friendly rounded edges, the two special swinging arms mounted on the main frame, the swing capacity, and the configurable pulling bar make this JOZ manure scraper a unique high-quality product.

The advantage of bending the scraper’s main arms forward when a lot of stall bedding is used is that the manure and bedding will slide to the centre of the scraper. As a result, manure never enters the stalls, and the scraper pulls more evenly and lightly. This maximises hygiene and reduces maintenance costs.

The advantage of the swinging arms is that the scraper follows the floor perfectly and gives the best possible cleaning result. The JOZ multi-scraper is therefore ideal for floors that slope towards the centre.

Other manure scrapers

Is this manure scraper not right for you after all? Take a look at the Combi Scraper, Slatted Floor Scraper, Flex Scraper and Delta Scraper. You can find more info about the differences between these scrapers in our blog ‘How do manure removal systems work?‘.

Multi-scraper Options

Four new options are available for the multi-scraper from April 2021. Thanks to the modular structure of these scrapers, the options can also be retrofitted to existing multi-scraper systems. The four new options:

1) Multi-scraper – overdriveable

  • Minimum width 70 cm (folded in)
  • 100% side wing guide required in the barn
  • Maximum width 4.6 meters
  • To be combined with: rubber – unequal alley – discharge hatches

2) Multi-scraper with E-rubber

  • The E-rubber was developed to perform under demanding conditions
  • The black SBR rubber is standard, red E-rubber is available as an extra option
  • This is the same rubber available as an extra option on the flex scraper

3) Multi-scraper with movable pulling bar

  • available for flat floor (no UNP)
  • The cast-iron middle part slides over the pulling bar
  • With this option, the scraper can stop up to 20 cm in front of the corner roll
  • Neat solution for smaller barns with little space for a discharge area
  • Suitable for 0.55 and 0.75 kW

4) Multi-scraper with locking pin key

  • Especially for farmers who do not want to use the scraper every day
  • The scraper can be used as you wish; when the key is used, the scraper operates at the same time
  • Ideal in calving/straw pens, where daily scraping is unnecessary
  • Only suitable for 0.55 and 0.75 kW without discharge hatches in normal conditions
  • Only suitable in collaboration with pulling bar unequal alley

In our knowledge and news section you will also find a blog about the upgrade of the JOZ multi-scraper.

Characteristics of the multi-scraper

  • Most animal-friendly design
  • Equal or unequal alley length with chain
  • Suitable for flat floors and UNP guides
  • Available with or without rubber on the main and side wings
  • Requires little space to park
  • Configurable
  • Swing capacity
  • Wear indicators
  • The main frame can be angled straight or forward at any time as desired
  • Scraper opens rapidly at the start of the alley
  • Suitable for chain, cable or rope drives
  • Normal amount of stall bedding, little or no straw

Suitable for various types of floors

The multi-scraper is suitable for alleys of 135 to 460 cm in width, and is perfect for barns with the following floors:

  • Solid concrete floors
  • Slatted floors
  • Rubber floors
  • Low-emission floors

The type of floor affects how easily animals can walk, in other words, the level of animal comfort and stress in the barn. Environmental requirements and legislation limit a farmer’s freedom in choosing the type of floor. Fortunately, JOZ has a suitable and proven manure scraper system for every combination of floor type, stall bedding, and animal.

Drive units

JOZ manure scrapers are propelled by rope, galvanised steel cables, a stainless steel cable, or a steel chain. JOZ uses 3 different types of drive stations:

  • Drum drive (rope & cable)
  • Chain drive (chain)
  • Cable drive (cable)

The type of drive station depends on the type of floor and the length of the manure alley.

Drum drive

The JOZ drum drive can be used on slatted floors, solid concrete floors, rubber floors and low-emission floors. The drum drive consists of a narrow, large-diameter drum that can be used in combination with rope, a plasticised cable or a stainless steel cable. A scraper system always requires two drive stations. One station winds the rope, while the other station unwinds it at the same time, so the system does not have to be under tension.

The drum drive is available in a floor-mounted version (beyond the reach of the cows) or on a console which is installed inside or outside the barn. The drive is ideal for barns with long alleys and very intensive use.

Chain drive

JOZ chain installations are equipped with one drive station per system. One chain installation is suitable for one or two manure alleys, and depending on the situation, one or more scrapers can be used per alley. The chain drive can be used on a solid floor, slatted floor, rubber floor, or low-emission floor.

The motor gear units are directly driven, without belts. The drive is placed on a vertical console with protective caps. We recommend using a fully automatic hydraulic tensioner for the best scraping results. This keeps the system correctly tensioned at all times, which means less wear and tear. Moreover, you will never be too late with tensioning.

Cable drive mechanism

In addition to the drum drive mechanism (rope/cable) and the chain drive mechanism, JOZ also supplies a cable scraping system which is propelled by a galvanised steel cable. The cable installation is equipped with one drive station per system, which pulls the cable back and forth. The system is driven by a drive roller.

This drive can only be used with a slatted floor.

Correct tensioning

We recommend using a fully automatic hydraulic tensioner. This keeps the system correctly tensioned at all times, which in turn means less wear and tear. Moreover, you will never be too late with tensioning.

Easy to use

The drives are easily controlled with JOZ’s MSC control box. What makes this control box so special is that it communicates with a precision sensor on the drive motor. As a result, the control cabinet always knows the position of the manure scraper in the alley.

Various settings are possible. We can set up manure scrapers exactly according to your preferences. The system can even be fitted with frost protection and remote control.
